How to Apply

  1. Read the information in this page, especially those related to your stream(s) of interest.

  2. Prepare your audition video. Please read the audition requirements for your chosen stream below. Videos should be no longer than 4 minutes and filmed in a quiet location. Applicants may be asked to attend a personal audition. All submitted videos will be kept private and confidential.

  3. Complete and submit the Application Form before the closing date.

  4. You need to have the contact of a leader in your church ready to complete the application. We will send them a reference form to fill out. Note that your leader cannot be simultaneously applying to be an AG student.

  5. if your church is partially or fully sponsoring your course fees, please furnish the name and contact of the church staff/leader we can get in touch with.

  6. For guidelines and encouragement on raising your own financial support, do read our Raising Financial Support Document.

Early Bird Registration closes on Sun, 10 Nov 2019.
Regular registration closes on Sun, 15 Dec 2019.


Audition Requirements

  1. Students must be 18 years old and above (21 years and below will require parental/guardian consent)

  2. Students should have the foundational skills listed below in their chosen stream:

    1. Vocals: Ability to pitch accurately

    2. Keys/Guitar: Ability to play chords and hold rhythm

    3. Bass: Ability to hold rhythm and play either bass or acoustic guitar

    4. Drums: Able to play the drums in-time with some stability

    5. Songwriting: Beginners are welcome to apply

    6. Dance: Students should be between 18–50 years old. No professional training required but recommended for those with exposure to dance (e.g. dance ministry, praise dance, zumba, pilates).

Vocals

Vocalists are required to submit a video of themselves singing their audition song with basic instrument accompaniment (e.g. guitar/piano) or minus 1 track, followed by singing the same song without instruments (a capella). Please put both into one video.

Please choose one of the following songs for the video audition:

  2. Reckless Love – Bethel Music

Keyboards, Guitar, & Bass

Those applying to Bass Stream, but do not yet play the bass, may choose to play the acoustic guitar on your video audition.

All applicants are expected to own or have regular access to the instrument of the stream they are applying for (e.g. applicant must have a bass to practise with in order to qualify for the Bass Stream).

Please choose one of the following songs for the video audition:

  3. Relentless – Hillsong United

  4. Turn It Up – Planetshakers

Drums

Drum stream applicants are required to submit a video of themselves playing along to two of the songs listed below. The music should be audible along with your drums.

Please note that all applicants are expected to own or have regular access to a drum set in their church or at home, whether electronic or acoustic, for the purposes of exercises and assignments that may be given during the course of the curriculum.

Please choose one fast and one slow song from the following songs for the video audition:

FAST

SLOW

Songwriting.png

Songwriting

Please submit a clear recording or demo of your original song. You may choose to have another singer perform your song. The song needs to meet the following criteria:

  1. Contains both melody & lyrics

  2. Contains at least one verse and one chorus

*Knowledge of music theory or instrument is not required to progress in the songwriting course

Sound

No prior experience is required. However, applicants must be either currently serving or interested to serve on the sound team in your home church as you need to have access to the hardware to apply what you learn in a real-world context.

Dance

You will be required to attend an in-house audition. At the audition, the Dance Mentor will lead you through a dance sequence.

 
 

AG Financial
Assistance Scheme

Students who face financial difficulties in meeting the required fees for the AG school programme may consider applying for financial assistance.

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Monthly per capita household income (PCI)* is not more than $1,200

  • Students receiving government subsidies or grants for their courses may be considered as well

*Monthly household per capita income refers to the total gross monthly incomes of all those living in the household divided by the number of people in the household.

To apply, complete the ‘Financial Assistance’ section in the Application Form. Applications for Financial Assistance must be made before 30th Nov 2019.

Successful applicants will be called in for a face-to-face interview where supporting documents and evidence must be provided.
